If Republican politicians hated the stimulus for any real reason (not just political bi-partisanship), they wouldn't accept the money from the stimulus for their states. Almost all of them did accept the money, so that tells you what they really thought of it.

Government spending CANNOT create a job. It can (and DOES) only KILL a few jobs in one place and replace them with ONE somewhere else. As part of the "stimulus," a perfectly ordinary year's infrastructure spending was moved OUT of the general budget and into the "stimulus" with ZERO extra funds above what would have been spent in the first place. Out of the EXISTING infrastructure funds, something like $300,000,000 has been taken OUT of projects to put-up signs to tell us we're seeing "stimulus" money at work. For instance, near me there's been an "interstate corridor" improvement ongoing for more than 20 years. They recently added signs to tell me this is thanks to the "stimulus." So it is with any example you are likely to find. Even your dear leaded said ON TV he agrees with this. According to OBAMA, government spending is BAD for the economy. According to OBAMA, unless federal spending is cut A LOT by 14 months ago, (not kidding - Obama said the deadline was January 2009) there will be no hope of avoiding a devastating collapse. In case you're wondering, yes, that was in the SAME speech where he promised unprecedented GROWTH of federal spending.

The only "jobs" I have seen created in my State were short term, low paying ones. The private sector can do far better.

Do you realize who is in charge at the moment? It took a democratic president a whole year and how many jobs lost to figure out maybe we should do something about the unemployment problem?? It would appear Obama forgot what the stimulus was suppose to go for so he paid off all those who got him in office first. A whole year, like 12 months with how many jobs lost in each one? And you want to somehow make the republicans look bad??? And please do tell where these states are that have had so many jobs created?!

I remember how GWB bragged about "creating" a handful of jobs in one state back there in his 2008 recession. Other than that, I haven't heard about any jobs that the Repubs have created. Those people are totally ridiculous. They back Bunning for holding up taxpayers unemployment that they worked for, and many of the Repubs are on the unemployment list themselves! There's just no logic there at all! They're like little kids, refusing to pass the ball back so that the team can advance!
